Blog Post of the Week

This week, I was too busy with the day job to even download my email, let alone read the posts at Sphinn. So I ended up doing all of my reading on Saturday, which meant that it was easy to pick my favorite blog post of the week:
27 Secrets to Linking Like a Networking Master

Tiffany makes some great points about linking for networking, and practices what she preaches, with links to relevant posts on interesting blogs.

One of her 27 secrets is “Link out in every post” - well, I’m doing that here!

PayPal susbscriptions - use two credit cards

As a consumer, I thought I had my PayPal subscriptions figured out. I had set them to draw directly from my bank account, with my credit card as backup. I figured my bank account was more reliable than a credit card.

It would seem that PayPal disagrees.

My new credit card arrived in the mail three days after the previous card had expired. (don’t know why it took so long to arrive - guess they don’t call it snail mail for nothing.)

But I didn’t worry about my PayPal subscriptions, after all, only one of them was due, and it was due to take money out of my bank account, not my credit card.

Wrong!

PLR Articles - the good, the bad and the funny!

I spent most of yesterday putting together a site on credit card debt, for a team project at Keyword Avalanche. I used Rapid Niche Websites as the sitebuilder, and will drip feed articles that I have collected from various PLR (private label rights) sources. Most of my time was spent editing the articles.

Call me fussy, but I don’t like sentences that ramble on forever, changing tense as they go. I don’t like articles that are one very long paragraph, and I don’t like articles where the keywords are stuffed into every sentence in every possible place. So I’ve spent my time trying to make the articles more readable, changing a few words here and there. This should make them more unique as well.

Drive Space Warnings

A part-time-would-be-marketer’s weekend:

Cam home from work on Friday & opened my email. Email from my ‘niche’ webhost - Drive Space Warning: account has filled its allocated space. - Huh? There’s supposed to be room for 5 domains, & I have only two, with a total of less than 300 pages, plus a couple of blogs. What’s taking up all the space? After some detective work, I discovered that the log files for one of the statistics programs, Analog stats, were taking up two thirds of the space. Deleted the log files, and now I have room for three more domains. Will have to ask support to remove that particular stats program, as I don’t use it anyway.
