TDC Day 24 - Traffic Decision

Today its time to make a decision about the traffic you’re getting on your umbrella phrase.

If your traffic fits with the Google Trends predictions for its ranking, great! - all you have to do is get and keep the number one ranking through good content and social bookmarking.

But if it doesn’t fit the predictions, you have a couple of possibilities:

create new clusters based on related keyphrases, to bring more traffic

OR

Give up on that keyphrase, and start again with a totally new one

TDC Day 23 - Conversion

From your previous work (market research, blogging, social bookmarking) you are aiming for traffic of about 200 a day.

You want your site to be ’slippery’ - to have people click on your affiliate links.

Your conversion rate is the number of people who buy compared to the number of people who have clicked on the link and arrived on the sales page. 1 in 200 is fine.

Instead of writing a traditional internet marketing sales copy, try writing a story that people will engage with and remember.

Read the book Made to Stick - it identifies six characteristics of a great story (and you don’t have to have them all!) : S.U.C.C.E.S.

TDC Day 22 - Testing and Tracking

Tracking is the second most important thing you do in internet marketing (market research is number one).

Tracking shows you how you’re doing, and serves as an early warning system.

For example, with testing and tracking to compare two products, you might find that the lower price product sells better, and actually makes you more money than the other, higher price product. Or it can tell you of your traffic is dropping and you need to do more linking.

  • You can use free tracking like Google Analytics or Statcounter to measure the number of people coming to a page.
  • Then use a click tracking system to measure the number of people who click on your affiliate link

TDC Day 21 - The Big Picture

A reminder that this is a testing phase, before you create a product. The ultimate goal is to sell your own product, not to just be an affiliate.

The sequence is to do your market research, then set up a blog to test the traffic and the conversions, before you create the product

Actions for today:
write three more articles about your keyword
start another blog, using fresh content
engage in responsible social bookmarking for yourself and your team
read Mike Mindel’s So What is Quality Content Anyway?
