TDC Day 28 - Backlink Analysis of Competition, Web 2.0

1) Use the SEO for Firefox plugin to analyse the Yahoo backlinks of your competition sites, as well as their age and Google Page Rank - then aim to get links on some of the same sites as your competitors, and to have a greater number of relevant links

2) Use Google blog search to find relevant blogs where you can leave relevant comments that link back to your site/blog. Try to use a unique keyword combination for your links so that they’re easy to track.

3) Use Google to search for forums relevant to your topic, and join and participate in those that allow links in your ’signature’

4) Use Google to search for relevant pages to comment in Web2.0 pages on HubPages and Squidoo.

TDC Day 27 - Overview, Backlinking

About the future of the Thirty Day Challenge:

The site will remain open, and will set up monthly challenge teams - people will be able to do the Thirty Day Challenge year round!

Stages of the Thirty Day Challenge:

  1. Find a niche market with a low competition, high traffic keyword
  2. Use free web2.0 hosting platforms to publish unique, keyword optimized content, that links to a product sales page (affiliate or your own)
  3. Use social networking strategies, particularly social bookmarking, to publicize the content
  4. If the conversion rate is acceptable (about 1 in 200), start getting additional backlinks to your website

Some sources of backlinks:

  • relevant comments on relevant blogs
  • reciprocal links

TDC Day 25 & Day 26 - Weekend Catchup

Yes, its another weekend to catchup on the thirty day challenge, and then there’s only five more days to go.

TDC Day 24 - Traffic Decision

Today its time to make a decision about the traffic you’re getting on your umbrella phrase.

If your traffic fits with the Google Trends predictions for its ranking, great! - all you have to do is get and keep the number one ranking through good content and social bookmarking.

But if it doesn’t fit the predictions, you have a couple of possibilities:

create new clusters based on related keyphrases, to bring more traffic

OR

Give up on that keyphrase, and start again with a totally new one

TDC Day 23 - Conversion

From your previous work (market research, blogging, social bookmarking) you are aiming for traffic of about 200 a day.

You want your site to be ’slippery’ - to have people click on your affiliate links.

Your conversion rate is the number of people who buy compared to the number of people who have clicked on the link and arrived on the sales page. 1 in 200 is fine.

Instead of writing a traditional internet marketing sales copy, try writing a story that people will engage with and remember.

Read the book Made to Stick - it identifies six characteristics of a great story (and you don’t have to have them all!) : S.U.C.C.E.S.
