Exploring Stumbleupon
Of all of the Web 2.0 sites I’ve come across, so far I like Stumbleupon the best.
Why? Because it gives me the best surfing.
At Stumbleupon, I can indicate my interests, click on a button and see a random site that has been given a thumbs-up by people with the same interest. It shows lots of great sites that I’d probably never come across in the search engines.
When I see a site I really like, I can easily add it to my Stumble blog.
One of the interests that I’ve listed is ‘Stumblers’. I really enjoy checking out other people’s Stumble blogs, and its the best way to find Stumble friends
There’s friends and fans. Friends are people you select, in order to see their thumbs-up sites. You can only have 200 friends (shame), and any of them can be mutual friends who have selected you too. Fans are people who elect to be your friends, but are not on the list of your selected friends and there’s no limit to the number of fans you can have.
I’ve become friends with a lovely woman in the next suburb, who I might never have met, if it wasn’t for Stumbleupon. She has been on Stumbleupon longer than me, and has made friends all over the world.
Unfortunately, you can only have one Stumbleupon account
So what does this have to do with internet marketing?
- Would it interest you to know that many Stumbleupon blogs have pagerank of 4 or 5?
- And Stumbling a page that is relevant to your stated interests will bring a surge of traffic to that page, especially if you have plenty of fans and mutual friends.
You can join Stumbleupon here.
And please do have a look at my Stumble blog, at http://stoush.stumbleupon.com - I’ve tried to make it fun.
