Plugins for Plugins
OK, I admit it, I love WordPress, cos I love finding more ways to tweak it. As I sort through the ways to improve my wordpress setup, I’ll be recording them here.
Now about plugins for plugins. Yes, its a strange category, but I do use a small number of plugins just to support other plugins.
First there’s WP-Cron. Some plugins need it in order to function - if so, in it goes!
Then there’s Activate-All. Once this plugin is activated, every other plugin will be as well. In fact, you can’t deactivate a plugin unless you deactivate this one first. This plugin saves time if you’re installing lots of blogs, or just have lots of plugins.
Nearly forgot: Exec-PHP - makes it possible to use php inside a post, including calling other plugins.
Finally, for now anyway, there’s Viper’s Plugins Used. This plugin makes it easy to list the plugins used in your blog, complete with descriptions. I love to peek at what plugins people are using, plus its a good way to give some credit and linklove to the clever and often generous people who created them.
So yes, I’ve now installed Viper’s Plugins Used on this blog (using Exec-PHP , and you’ll be able to check what plugins I’m currently using. But note that some of the best plugins I’m using are part of the excellent Rapid Niche Websites package, and are not available separately.
